followed the guide exactly as it says and i've still got the same problem :( I selected android 1.6 however (as the guide states) because android 2.1 on the sdk wouldnt let me sync my google account - could this be the problem?

are you shure you pused the id
adb shell sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.googleapps/databases/gls.db "update meta set intvalue='number_from_previous_commands' where name='androidId'";

'number_from_previous_commands' this has to be changed to the long number you got with the emulator

well... funny thing about that... i ran the command with "ntvalue='number_from_previous_commands'" instead of replacing it with the android id i got from the emulator.... i did run the command again with the ID in there, could this be causing my problem?

@John

I wouldn't have thought that would cause a problem, but you can check what's been written to the database file by executing the command :-

Code: Select all
adb shell sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.googleapps/databases/gls.db "select * from meta where name='androidId'"

You should get back a response of the form:-

androidId::0123456789012345678

where the number I've shown should be replaced with the ID you originally put in. If not, you can try writing it again.

@Jayice

It's a while since you posted so I'm not sure if you've solved the problem, but that error message sounds like your Scroll doesn't have an ADB connection to your PC. If you type

adb devices

the response should show a long number which is the device id of your Scroll. If it doesn't show a device ID then your scroll's not connected (possibly an adb driver problem?)

HI,

I am in the process of following this guide and all has gone well so far. I have the ID to put onto the Scroll but I cannot get it to connect to my PC.

I am pointing my pc to the android_winusb.inf file but it is not finding any suitable drivers there. I am runnign Vista 64 bit. Any help on what could be going wrong here is really appreciated.

Yes, it will only instal it as a generic device. It lets me mount it and 4 drives appear in my computer but I cannot get it to find the correct device nor can i get it to show up as a connected device in the command prompt (with or without mounting it)

Yea for this hack you need it connected to the PC not mounted.

Mounted will only give you access to the storage, what were after here is access to the actual tablet interface.

Connect to PC without mounting > Open Device manager > Find either Exclamation Marked Device or Android Device > Right click > Update Driver > Let me choose the driver from my computer > Have Disk > Point it to the provided .inf file > Install.

Thats how it should work anyway, people have had problems doing this with XP I believe, Windows 7 seems to work fine
